The term "acceptable coverage" is defined to mean any of the following:
- Coverage under a health benefits plan meeting the standards of the new legislation;
- Coverage under a plan in effect on the date of enactment and considered to be "grandfathered health insurance coverage" under the provisions of the new legislation allowing people to keep their existing health insurance;
- Medicare;
- Medicaid;
- Coverage for members of the Armed Services and their Dependents, including Tricare;
- Coverage under the VA’s veteran's health care Program;
- Other health benefits coverage recognized as such by the Commissionerr, in coordination with the Secretary of the Treasury.
